The usage statistics for 511 telephone services in North America from March 2008 reported to the 511 Deployment Coalition are as follows:

2,002,967   Total Calls

Over 109 million calls in nationwide since inception.

  • 44 consecutive months with over 1 million calls. 
  • 511 service was available to over 128 million Americans (47%) and almost 1 million Canadians (3%).
  • There are forty-three 511 services available to the traveling public operating in 33 states and two provinces.

  • 41 consecutive months with over 1 million calls.  Second consecutive month over 4 million calls
  • 511 service was available to over 128 million Americans (47%) and almost 1 million Canadians (3%).
  • Nova Scotia launched its service on January 7, 2008 and its “back door” number is (902) 424-3933.  There are forty-two 511 services available to the traveling public operating in 33 states and one province.
  • The Idaho, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, Nova Scotia, Sacramento / Northern California and Utah services set monthly call volume records. 
  • The following service passed million call milestones:
    • 1 million calls – Vermont
    • 2 million calls – Massachusetts and Montana
    • 3 million calls – Oregon

The usage statistics for 511 telephone services nationwide from December 2007 reported to the 511 Deployment Coalition are as follows:

4,655,523 Total Calls New National Record and First Month More Than 4 Million Calls

  • Almost 96 million calls nationwide since inception.
  • 40 consecutive months with over 1 million calls.
  • 511 service was available to over 128 million Americans (47%).
  • New national 511 records:
    • 28.5 million calls in 2007 – a 31% increase over 2006
    • 9.9 million calls in the fourth quarter of 2007
  • New Mexico had a “soft launch” for its service in December 2007, the “back door” number is (800) 432-4269.  There are forty-one 511 services available to the traveling public operating in 33 states.
  • The Colorado, Kansas, New México, St. Louis, Washington State and Wyoming services set monthly call volume records. 
  • The following service passed million call milestones:
    • 1 million calls – Tennessee

88.5 million calls nationwide since inception.

  • 38 consecutive months with over 1 million calls.
  • 511 was available to over 126 million Americans (46%).
  • On October 15, 2007 the Massachusetts 511 service was launched.
  • The Georgia, Massachusetts, San Diego and St. Louis services set monthly call volume records. 
  • During our hiatus and in September and October 2007, the following services passed million call milestones:
    • 1 million calls – Kansas, North Dakota, Sacramento / Northern California, South Dakota, Tampa and Wyoming
    • 2 million calls – Colorado, Iowa, Kentucky Statewide, Minnesota, Nebraska, Oregon, Utah

    The usage statistics for 511 telephone services nationwide in October 2006 reported to the 511 Deployment Coalition are as follows:

    1,631,857 Total Calls

    • Almost 62 million calls nationwide since inception.
    • 26 consecutive months with more than 1 million calls.
    • 511 was available to more than 100 million Americans (35%).
    • Systems deployed for over one year saw a 21.3% increase in October 2006 call volumes compared to October 2005.
    • Peak usage was experienced due to weather conditions and AMBER Alerts.
    • The Colorado, Nevada, Tennessee and Wyoming services set monthly call volume records.  The Colorado, Nevada and Wyoming services set daily call volume records.  The Utah and Wyoming services set hourly call volume records.
    • The Southeast Florida service received its 9 millionth call and the Oregon service received its 2 millionth call.
    • September saw the 2 year anniversary of the service launch in Colorado and Nebraska had its 5 year anniversary.

    The usage statistics for 511 telephone services nationwide in September 2006 reported to the 511 Deployment Coalition are as follows:

    1,422,535 Total Calls

    • More than 60 million calls nationwide since inception.
    • 25 consecutive months with more than 1 million calls.
    • 511 was available to more than 100 million Americans (35%).
    • Systems deployed for one year saw an 18.6% increase in September 2006 call volumes compared to September 2005.
    • Peak usage was experienced due to incidents, holiday travel and weather conditions.
    • The Colorado, Nevada, Tennessee and Wyoming services set monthly call volume records.  The Nevada and Wyoming services set daily call volume records.  The Nevada and Wyoming services set hourly call volume records.
    • The San Francisco Bay Area service received its 13 millionth call.

    The usage statistics for 511 telephone services nationwide in August 2006 reported to the 511 Deployment Coalition are as follows:

    1,439,826 Total Calls

    • Tennessee publicly launched its service on August 14 and Nevada had a soft launch for its service on August 23, with a public launch before the winter season. The services “back door” numbers are (877) 244-0065 and (877) NVROADS, respectively.  Now there are thirty-one 511 services available to the traveling public which are operating in 27 states.
    • More than 58 million calls nationwide since inception.
    • 24 consecutive months with more than 1 million calls.
    • 511 was available to more than 100 million Americans (35%).
    • Systems deployed for one year saw a 9.7% increase in August 2006 call volumes compared to August 2005.
    • Peak usage was experienced due to incidents, fires, and weather conditions.
    • The Colorado, Nevada, Tennessee and Wyoming services set monthly call volume records.  The Nevada, Tennessee and Wyoming services set daily call volume records.  The Florida Statewide, Nevada, Tennessee and Wyoming services set hourly call volume records.
    • Minnesota received its 2 millionth call and Tampa, Florida received its 1 millionth call

    The usage statistics for 511 telephone services nationwide in July 2006 reported to the 511 Deployment Coalition are as follows:

    1,384,282 Total Calls

    • On July 1, the Wyoming Department of Transportation had a “soft launch” for their 511 service.  The service’s public announcement is planned for September and its “back door” number is (888) 996-7623.  This marks the 29th 511 system in 25 states available to the traveling public.   
    • More than 57 million calls nationwide since inception.
    • 23 consecutive months with more than 1 million calls.
    • 511 was available to more than 93 million Americans (32%).
    • Systems deployed for one year saw a 5.5% decrease in July 2006 call volumes compared to July 2005.
    • Peak usage was experienced due to incidents, fires, AMBER alerts and a ride transit free program.
    • The San Francisco Bay Area and Wyoming services set monthly call volume records.
    • The San Francisco Bay Area received their 12 millionth call.   
    • July saw the 4 year anniversary of the service launch in Minnesota and South East Florida.
